The objective is to further develop existing research at the university within district heating and renewable power generation and in particular to strengthen the connection between these research fields by studying the integration of heat and power sectors in a broader energy system perspective. For example, how district heating can be used to help balance power grids which utilize more intermittent and renewable-based generation by use of power-to-heat technologies. The new senior lecturer is expected to take part in the planned research program with focus on Smart Energy that will connect to both the AI and innovation science research of the university, so experience of working in interdisciplinary research projects is seen favorably upon. The proportion of research that will be included in the position is dependent on the applicant's ability to contribute to existing research projects and ability to apply for research grants.

Teaching duties will include teaching in practical and theoretical energy courses, mainly within the BSc program in Sustainable Energy Engineering and the MSc in Energy smart innovation in the built environment.
