Since the beginning in 1983, innovation and collaboration with society have characterized the University's education and research. The research is internationally reputable and is largely conducted in a multidisciplinary manner within the University's two focus areas: Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities. The University has a wide range of education with many popular study programes. The campus is modern and well-equipped, and is situated close to both public transportation and the city center.

School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability
The University consists of four interdisciplinary academies and the current position is located at the School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability (FIH). Here you get to work in a research and educational environment with a focus on sustainable development and entrepreneurship. The school trains future economists, engineers, environmental scientists and biologists. The school has approximately 120 employees and consists of four departments, the department of Construction and Energy Engineering, the department of Business Studies, the department of Environmental and Biosciences and the department of Engineering and Innovation. FIH offers education at the undergraduate and advanced level, as well as doctoral education in the field of Innovation Sciences. The research is multidisciplinary and often takes place in co-production with other actors.

School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability.

Description
At the Department of Construction and Energy Engineering, there is a need for a senior lecturer in construction engineering with a focus on structural design, both regarding teaching and development of the educational programs at the department and strengthening the research of the construction engineering group. The new senior lecturer is expected to take part in research, relating to the subject areas of the education programs and relevant for the construction sector. The proportion of research included in the position depends on the applicant's ability to contribute to current research projects and apply for research grants.

Teaching responsibilities will include teaching in practical and theoretical construction engineering courses, mainly within the BSc program in Construction Engineering, the BSc program in Construction and Real Estate Business, and the MSc in Energy smart innovation in the built environment. Suitable courses to teach include building mechanics, construction technology, structural mechanics, and structural engineering. There are also possibilities to teach building physics, building materials science and building services engineering, and experience in these areas is seen as favorable.

Qualifications
Required scientific skills:

  • A doctoral degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctoral degree within construction/civil engineering, preferably with a focus on structural/building engineering.
  • A good level of scientific production in terms of scope, originality, breadth, and impact on the subject area.

Required teaching skills:

  • Proven experience teaching within construction engineering, preferably with a focus on structural/building engineering. This includes planning, conducting, examining, and evaluating teaching, including supervision of theses or dissertations. Experience in building materials science is also desirable.
  • Completed training in higher education pedagogy and experience in educational development work.

Other skills:

  • For the position, you must have a high level of proficiency to teach, research, communicate and write in English.
  • Proficiency in Swedish is not mandatory but is seen as a favorable skill.
  • Proven experience in leadership, administrative skills, and interaction with the broader community is considered as an asset.
  • Research with a clear link to one of the two profile areas of the University - Health Innovation, and Smart Cities and Communities - is favorable.
