School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability
The University consists of four interdisciplinary academies and the current position is located at the School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability (FIH). Here you get to work in a research and educational environment with a focus on sustainable development and entrepreneurship. The school trains future economists, engineers, environmental scientists and biologists. The school has approximately 120 employees and consists of five departments, the department of Biomechanics and Mechanical Engineering, the department of Construction and Energy Engineering, the department of Business Studies, the department of Environmental and Biosciences and the department of Innovation Management. FIH offers education at the undergraduate and advanced level, as well as doctoral education in the field of Innovation Sciences. The research is multidisciplinary and often takes place in co-production with other actors.

Halmstad University, the school of Business, Innovation and Sustainability seeks to appoint an Associate senior lecturer in Innovation Science for project I-save. 

Work assignments
Research for at least 50% aiming at enhancing the understanding, both in companies and in academia, of what areas that need to be addressed, developed or innovated for the successful transition from existing transport mobility ecosystems to the smart innovation ecosystems of tomorrow. As transport is an important source of greenhouse gas emissions and local emissions, previous studies on socio-technical transitions towards sustainability have focused on the development and implementation of technological alternatives to vehicles with internal combustion engines that run on fossil fuels. These studies have often been based on assumptions that existing transport systems are relatively stable. However, these assumptions have become increasingly questionable. This is because transport and mobility systems must be changed to become more resource efficient and to be able to assimilate new technology in an efficient way to become more sustainable. To investigate such changes, it is necessary to have expertise in transport and logistics. The Associate Senior Lecturer is expected to strengthen FIH with such expertise.

As part of his/her career development, the Associate Senior Lecturer will, in consultation and collaboration with colleagues and industrial partners, be active in the formulation of precise research questions, in the planning of research projects and applications for additional funding, and in the recruitment and supervision of doctoral students. With the ambition to strengthen the link between undergraduate education and research in the profile area Smart Cities and Communities, the assistant university lecturer will be 50% engaged in research and 50% in teaching. The teaching will primarily be located to the bachelor program in innovation engineering (Utvecklingsingenjörsprogrammet) and the 2 year master program Industrial Management and Innovation.

Qualification for Associate senior lecturer
A person qualified for appointment as an associate senior lecturer is a person who has been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research expertise. Primary consideration should be given to a person who has been awarded a PhD or achieved the equivalent expertise within five years of the deadline for application for employment as an associate senior lecturer. 
However, a person who has been awarded a PhD or achieved the equivalent expertise at an earlier date may also be considered if there are exceptional circumstances (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 Section 4a).

Associate senior lecturer is a career-development position in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 Section 12a. The length of employment is four years. After successfully completing assessment evaluations the Associate senor lecturer may receive a promotion to a permanent position of Senior Lecturer.

Specific qualifications for this employment

• The applicant must have a PhD in an area that is relevant for the position and must have a track record of publication in relevant scientific journals.
• The applicant is required to have a good ability to express themself in spoken and written English.
• It is desirable that the applicant has a good ability to express themself in spoken and written Swedish.
• The applicant should have experience of interdisciplinary work and of both qualitative and quantitative research.
• The applicant should have a high level of competence in scientific methodology and scientific theory.
• The applicant should possess research competency within reflexive perspectives on innovation, knowledge development and sustainability from subjects such as sociology and history.
• The applicant should have a high level of collaborative skills and experience of successful collaboration with external actors.
• The applicant should possess very good knowledge of digital tools of relevance for the digitization of education and collaboration.

Appointment to senior lecturer
In order to be promoted to senior lecturer, eligibility must be fulfilled according to the Appointments Procedure at Halmstad University, section 4.7.
