Recent growth in the research activities and the well-established educational programs of the School of Information Technology (ITE) is enabling a significant expansion. In 2018 the total research expenditures exceeded 70 MSEK and the school hosted over 850 students. Over the next two years, the School will grow significantly. As part of this plan, a new Associate Professor is now open for applications from suitable candidates. 

Description

The appointee will join the Department of Computing and Electronics for Real-time and Embedded Systems (CERES) at the School of Information Technology. Laboratory facilities include the industrially sponsored Electronics Center Halland (ECH) and the Rydberg Core Labs (RCL) among several other innovation arenas and experimental facilities. 

General Duties

Research Duties - The appointed Associate Professor will lead the development of a strong, externally financed, research program at Halmstad University in an area that complements our existing expertise in electronics connected to radar systems, photonics, and wireless communication. On a day to day basis, duties include developing and carrying out externally funded research activities, mentoring junior faculty, doctoral students, and representing the area internally and externally as well as connecting it productively with other areas at the University. Research duties also include building a wealth of productive collaborations with local, regional, national, and international actors.

Educational Duties - The appointed Associate Professor will guide and contribute to the development of existing and new programs relating to applied electromagnetics (broadly construed), and contribute to teaching and mentoring of students at the undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral levels. It is expected that the Associate Professor will contribute to strengthening the connection between current needs of regional industrial partners and research opportunities available for Masters and undergraduate students.

General Qualifications

The position requires having a PhD, preferable in electrical engineering, physics, or related area. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest in research, education, and innovation in the area of applied electromagnetics. Breadth of interests and a demonstrated ability for productive collaborations is desirable.

An Associate Professor position requires demonstrated leadership and administrative skill as well as collaboration with industry and outreach.

Salary
