The research in Informatics/Information Systems at Halmstad University has a focus on the area of digital service innovation. The vision centered on digital service innovation within informatics and information systems research implies a focus on contemporary issues such as new forms of stakeholder involvement in innovation processes, digital service design, architectures, innovation ecosystems and value network governance. The main application areas are media, health promoting services, and transport.

The University has established a strong network of industry and public sector relationships in this research area. The research on digital service innovation is one of the prioritized research areas where continued development of research strength is expected in order to reach excellence in international and national collaborations. This area, which is expected to attract considerable industrial interest also in the future, will be an important research area for Halmstad University in the coming years.

The major part of the employment is intended for research, doctoral education but teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students are also important parts of the employment. During the first four years, the position will be linked to Volvo Car Corporation (VCC), meaning that the appointed associate professor will be doing research in close collaboration with VCC and will spend about 20% of time at the company.

The appointed associate professor is expected to develop a high-quality externally funded research program together with colleagues and must be committed to excellence in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Qualifications:

The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in informatics/information systems/interaction design or closely related fields.  Strong emphasis will be placed on experience in teaching at different levels in relevant subjects, and proven teaching skills. The applicant must demonstrate a strong, currently active research profile in the above fields. The overall scientific production should be extensive in high-quality research journals. Documented experience from supervision of PhD students, innovation, research and development in an industrial environment is also a strong merit.

Assessment criteria:

For appointment as associate professor, the following assessment criteria will be applied:

• Ability to conduct high-quality teaching and to develop courses at different levels
• Ability to conduct research of high international quality in informatics 
• Documented experience from research in collaboration with industrial partners
• Experience in supervision of master/PhD students
• Ability to attract external funding
