The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability is one of four faculties, with 105 employees who conduct education, research and societal collaboration within and between the subject areas of business studies, engineering and science.

The school supports talent among early-career researchers by offering competitive postdoc-employments and aims to stimulate collaboration between existing faculty and surrounding institutions, business sector and public administration. A further aim is to inspire and facilitate the education of a new generation of research trained specialists focused on foundations and implementations of innovation for sustainability transition.

Description

The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability (FIH) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher interested in innovation processes for sustainability (circularity) based on maintaining and processing of natural resources and ecosystem services, in contexts such as energy or food production, water management, and agriculture or forest industry. The research should be related to the Sustainable Development Goals and the transition to a fossil-free society based on the reprocessing of natural resources and ecosystem services.

Activities span from creating and capturing value from bio-based resources and residual streams and transforming these into fossil-free systems or to lead/manage business development processes in cooperation with stakeholders to support sustainable value creation and policy development. The interdisciplinary research can also deal with business model development/transformation based on resource efficiency and ecosystem services. Altogether, the research should contribute to the sustainability transition through collaboration with private and public organizations as well as civil actors.

Work duties
The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20 % of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. Teaching could consist of taking part in courses at the Bachelor program Environment, Innovation and Sustainability (180hp) or on the master program Applied Environmental Science.

Qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

Requirements:

• PhD in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Economics, Innovation Science, Sustainable development, or other relevant subjects

• High proficiency in both spoken and written English.

• A postdoctoral position requires that the doctoral degree, or an international degree deemed to be equivalent, was awarded within three years of the application deadline unless there are special reasons.

Additional assessment criteria:

• Documented experience in interdisciplinary research with connection to sustainable innovation.
• Documented ability and experience of research in collaboration with public or private partners.
• Documented ability to develop and conduct good quality research. Good publication track record.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the national agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) dated 2008-09-04.
