The School of School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability (FIH)

The School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability is one of four faculties, with 105 employees who conduct education, research and societal collaboration within and between the subject areas of business studies, engineering and science.

The school supports talent among early-career researchers by offering competitive postdoc-employments and aims to stimulate collaboration between existing faculty and surrounding institutions, business sector and public administration. A further aim is to inspire and facilitate the education of a new generation of research trained specialists focused on foundations and implementations of innovation for sustainability transition.

Description

Research contributes to developing the field of information-driven healthcare, such as by using AI (machine learning) from an internationalization, business model, or ecosystems perspective. The focus is from a management control / accounting perspective. Part of the research may be carried out in collaboration with large and medium companies and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector. Research is relevant to Halmstad University’s focus area Health Innovation, which consists of different research disciplines.

Duties

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20 % of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. The main work duties are listed below:

The research will involve designing and implementing new research in the area of information driven healthcare from a managerial perspective. The research will complement ongoing research in Health Innovation at the School of Business, Innovation and Sustainability and other schools at Halmstad University.

The candidate will also be involved in applying for additional external research funding.

The candidate will be involved in teaching in Business Administration and Economics, and Accounting and Bank Management program. Other involvement may be in the MSc programs of Strategic Entrepreneurship for International Growth (https://www.hh.se/english/education/programmes/masters-programme-120-credits-in-strategic-entrepreneurship-for-international-growth.html) and the doctoral program in Innovation Sciences.

Qualifications

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in business studies, industrial management or similar.
  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Ability to conduct high quality teaching. Ability to collaborate.

A postdoctoral position requires that the doctoral degree, or an international degree deemed to be equivalent, was awarded within three years of the application deadline unless there are special reasons.

Additional assessment criteria:

  • Leadership abilities and experiences.
  • Experiences and skills to apply for funding.
  • Documented knowledge of the Swedish language.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the national agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) dated 2008-09-04.
