Halmstad University consists of four interdisciplinary Schools and the current position is located at the School of Information Technology (ITE). ITE is a multicultural school with around 130 employees from 20 different countries. It is a strong research and education environment, with focus on smart technology and its applications. Students and researchers are working with everything from AI and information driven care to autonomous vehicles, social robotics and digital design. ITE offers education on all levels, from undergraduate to PhD education, plus education for professional. An innovation centre for information driven care called Leap for Life is connected to ITE, as well as a collaboration arena for electronic development, Electronics Centre in Halmstad (ECH).

Appointment as associate senior lecturer is a qualifying appointment with the purpose to give the employee a possibility to promote to senior lecturer. Appointment as associate senior lecturer is for four years.

Description

Duties include interdisciplinary research in theoretical and experimental high-frequency electronics, teaching electronics at bachelor and master levels, and administration. The position and the research field are strongly linked to the University's Collaboration arena Electronics Centre in Halmstad (ECH).

In the research project funded by ELLIIT, the candidate shall build up a fundamental framework for information leakage through electromagnetic probing.

Side-channel analysis is a way of side-stepping most conventional security procedures by examining side effects of information processing such as energy usage or heat output. It has already been established that information leakage from microprocessors can occur via the side-channel of electromagnetic radiation. To further develop this line of inquiry, there is a need for a theoretical model and systematise empirical work via laboratory procedures.

The recruited person will initially teach approximately 20% and do research 80%.

Finally, the recruited person is expected to participate in supervision of thesis projects for bachelor and master level students, as well as co-supervise PhD students.

Qualification

Qualifications required for employment as an associate senior lecturer (biträdande universitetslektor) are doctoral degrees or corresponding scientific competence. The doctoral degree should not be older than five years when this position's application time has finished, eligible exceptions might apply. The doctoral degree subject should be within applied electromagnetics, high-frequency electronics or a closely related field.

The scientific production is expected to be published in high-quality, peer-reviewed research journals and conferences. Documented experience from innovation, research and development in an industrial environment is also a strong merit. The applicant should share the value that diversity and equality among researchers and teachers brings higher quality to research and education.

The overall assessment of the candidate's work will primarily focus on its quality and, to a lesser extent, its scope.

Requirements

Scientific excellence:

  • a doctoral degree or a degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree
  • research achievements according to current national and international standards
  • good level of scientific output (scope, originality, breadth, and impact on subject area)

Pedagogical skills:

  • proven experience in planning, conducting, examining, and evaluating teaching
  • good competence demonstrated by experience in teaching
  • experience in supervising theses or dissertations
  • experience in educational development work

The candidate should have a research profile and teaching experience in an area closely related to high-frequency electronics. Theoreticians, experimentalists, or a combination thereof are all valid options for the position. Essential is an ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary environments since ECH is run together with industrial partners.

Meritorious

Documented experience or training in leadership, administrative skills, and interactions with the surrounding community will be considered strong merits.

Salary

Salary is to be settled by negotiation. The application should include a statement of the salary level required by the candidate.

Application

Applications should be sent via Halmstad University's recruitment system Varbi (see link on this page).
