Background

Recent growth in the research activities and the well-established educational programs of the School of Information Technology (ITE) is enabling a significant expansion. In 2018 the total research expenditures exceeded 70 MSEK and the school hosted over 850 students. Over the next two years, the School will grow significantly. 

The KKS SafeSmart Synergy project – Safety of Connected Intelligent Vehicles in Smart Cities – aims at developing technical advances enabling automated driving in challenging urban scenarios. The advertised postdoctoral position involves research spanning in the field of Signal Processing and Wireless Communications. The scientific questions shall revolve around how to localize autonomous vehicles at road intersections, using wireless signals.

Description

The recruited person will be expected to teach 20% and do research to 80%. The postdoctoral researcher will be carrying out research in a highly international research environment at the department of Intelligent Systems and Digital Design (ISDD), School of Information Technology, Halmstad University, Sweden, see http://www.hh.se/en-US/akademinforinformationsteknologi.1240.html.

The research project is funded by KKS and will be carried out in collaboration with the project’s industrial partners, for the advertised position primarily TerraNet, see https://terranet.se/about/, and Gutec, see https://www.gutec.se/ The other partners in the SafeSmart include Scania, AstaZero, H&E Solutions, Quviq and KPIT.

Qualification

The suitable candidate has a PhD degree in Information Technology or closely related fields. The degree should be awarded not later than 2 years before the application deadline. An ideal candidate would have expertise in antenna arrays, MIMO, GNSS receivers, sensor networks. The applicant must demonstrate a currently active research profile in the above fields.

Salary

Salary is to be settled by negotiation. The application should include a statement of the salary level required by the candidate.
