The School of Information Technology

Halmstad University consists of four interdisciplinary Schools and the current position is located at the School of Information Technology (ITE). ITE is a multicultural school with around 130 employees from 20 different countries. It is a strong research and education environment, with focus on smart technology and its applications. Students and researchers are working with everything from AI and information driven care to autonomous vehicles, social robotics and digital design. ITE offers education on all levels, from undergraduate to PhD education, plus education for professional. The research is conducted within the research environment Embedded and Intelligent Systems (EIS). An innovation centre for information driven care called Leap for Life is connected to ITE, as well as a collaboration arena for electronic development, Electronics Centre in Halmstad (ECH).

Description

At the department of Computing and Electronics for Real-Time and Embedded Systems (CERES), there is a need for an interdisciplinary senior lecturer in embedded systems who can lead the research area forward, strengthen and develop the interdisciplinary links both internally at the University and towards external industrial and societal partners.

Duties include teaching in practical and theoretical computer science at both bachelor and master level, interdisciplinary research on embedded systems, and administration. The research field is strongly linked to the University's Innovation Centre for Information-Driven Care (Leap for life - leapforlife.se) and the development of architectures, database and sensor solutions for the intelligent home of the future. The proportion of research that will be included in the position is dependent on the applicant's ability to contribute to existing research projects and ability to apply for research grants.

Qualification

Scientific skills:

  • a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree
  • a good level of scientific production in terms of scope, originality, breadth and impact on the subject area.

teaching skills:

  • proven experience in planning, conducting, examining and evaluating teaching, including supervision of theses or dissertations
  • completed training in higher education pedagogy and experience in educational development work

Subject related skills:

Research profile and teaching experience in embedded systems together with an ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary environments is a requirement. Proven experience in leadership, administrative skills and interaction with the wider community is an asset. Research with a clear link to one of the two profile areas of the university, Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities, is desirable.

Salary
