Halmstad University, School of Information Technology

Background
Recent growth in the research activities and the well-established educational programs of the School of Information Technology (ITE) is enabling a significant expansion. In 2018 the total research expenditures exceeded 70 MSEK and the school hosted over 850 students. Over the next two years, the School will grow significantly.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time post-doctoral researcher, with expertise in machine learning and data mining.

The work aims to provide electric vehicle OEMs and Fleet Operators with insights into quality, faults and anomalies of the battery packs, a critical component in EVs. It enables faster R&D iterations (vehicle improvements) and a continuous enhancement of the offer available to end-users, providing better insights to their EV assets.

The expected output are research publications and software platform for anomaly and fault detection that runs automated analysis on the data generated by EV battery packs. The main component of this platform are machine learning and AI models: fed by battery signals and parameters such as the specifications, pack voltage and current, the cells voltage and current, its temperature, the State of Charge (SoC), charge/discharge power. It output an assessment of the condition and performance of the batteries.

Principal duties
The successful candidate will work primarily with research in an EU project called "Battery Cortex".

The duties will be:

  • To organize and undertake research in fault detection using machine learning
  • To contribute to the analysis of research
  • To contribute to academic publications and conference papers (where appropriate leading on these)
  • To contribute to report writing
  • To contribute to teaching in programming, data mining and machine learning

In Sweden the position of postdoctoral researcher is a qualifying appointment, which is intended to enable the employee to develop their independence as a researcher and to obtain merits that may develop their competence for another post with higher eligibility requirements. As a postdoctoral researcher you are expected to be active in the research seminars organised by the research environment EIS at the school of Information Technology.
